Shaela Sakamoto
Shaela is born and raised in Ha’iku, Maui. She is a graduate of Kamehameha schools and attended Grand Canyon University for her undergraduate and graduate program. Shaela holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology and a Master’s in Professional Counseling. Shaela moved back to Hawai’i after college with the intention to give back to the lāhui and to provide the necessary mental health support to her people. She has worked with various mental health agencies since moving back to Hawai’i in 2019.
Additionally, Shaela is a licensed mental health counselor and serves her community by providing a relatable and diverse approach. Shaela is passionate about helping the keiki and ohana of Hawai’i to become their best self, while healing from within.
Shaela’s areas of expertise include working with keiki, relationship challenges, anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, and personal growth.
Shaela is deeply passionate about supporting Native Hawaiians in her community and has witnessed first hand the benefits that therapy offers for our lāhui.
